OBJECTIVES
La Foundary’s mission is twofold: to reduce the environmental impact of waste and revolutionise the sustainable biomaterials industry with high-performing and cost-effective alternatives.
Their goal is to significantly reduce landfill waste, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and normalise sustainable biomaterial products as the standard practice across various industries, driving a paradigm shift toward a fully circular and sustainable global economy.
INNOVATION
The innovation at La Foundary lies in its cutting-edge proprietary microbiology technology, which rapidly transforms organic waste into high-performance biomaterials with properties comparable to conventional expanded-polystyrene and plastic composites.
Using non-fossil fuel based materials as feedstock, the material requires 90% less energy and water during production process than plastic production, with adjustable density and lightweight properties, and natural compostability.
Their process represents a major leap in material science, offering reduced energy consumption and superior environmental benefits compared to traditional manufacturing methods, paving the way for a more sustainable future.
IMPACT
When fully-scaled, La Foundary has the potential to operate at a material production capacity of 200,000 m3+ per year, and thereby reducing at least 70% of EPS packaging usage in the market. Not to mention that with every 1kg of waste converted, approximately 0.7kg of carbon dioxide equivalent is prevented from entering the environment.
La Foundary not only offers sustainable alternatives to traditional materials, but also provide a system to recover valuable industrial waste. By helping industries lower their environmental impact, La Foundary drives broader adoption of circular economy principles, making an efficient and lasting impact on sustainability at a global scale.
