Two of Queensland’s most prominent leaders in innovation will share their insights on what it takes to translate research into commercial solutions during a special event at the Agtech and Logistics Hub.
Chief Scientist Professor Bronwyn Harch and Chief Entrepreneur Julia Spicer will visit the Hub on Thursday 2 March for a session on ‘Research Impact Pathways’.
Representatives from AusIndustry and IP Australia will also speak at the Chief Insights event, which will run from 10am-11.30am.
The morning is an opportunity for agribusinesses to learn about what’s involved in commercialising research and ask any burning questions they have about the process.
Prof Harch’s presentation will focus on the translation of research, including impacts on policy and practice change, working in research consulting and commercialisation of research.
Mrs Spicer will share her insights around making connections and will speak about how to find your team and engage industry.
IP Australia’s presentation will explore why it is important to patent research, while AusIndustry will focus on the R&D tax incentive scheme and resources that assist with the commercialisation process of research.
The scheme assists Australian companies to undertake R&D by providing a targeted tax offset. It is the federal government’s largest innovation program, supporting more than 13,000 companies and registering close to $14 billion R&D expenditure.
